New Information from The City of Gainesville, Alachua County, and the Department of Health Regarding Drive Through Testing for COVID-19

The are reporting that they have now expanded their testing capabilities to include a drive thru testing site, and according to the Department of Health, they are by appointment ONLY for those who have been referred by a physician.

  • The site will be able to limit public contact between residents of our community and protect healthcare professionals.
  • The Department of Health is only offering testing by appointment, to patients who have been referred by a physician.

According to Alachua County Facebook Page

“Residents need to go through a screening process and receive a testing order. Our testing resources will be used in a way that helps us to contain the spread and that means using testing strategically. Testing is not a vaccination and the purpose of testing is to help us implement our mitigation strategy. Testing has been and will continue to be most-commonly recommended for individuals in an at-risk group due to age or pre-existing conditions and for those whose symptoms have worsened while practicing self-quarantine.”
