DESCRIPTION

CPR and AEDs save lives. On December 13th, 2007, Congress passed a resolution to set aside June 1st-7th each year as National CPR and AED Awareness Week. This week spotlights on how lives can be saved if more people know CPR and how to use an AED.

During this week, GatorCPR and HeartSafe City Foundation will be:

  • Donating $5 per student trained in any one of our classroom courses. The proceeds go toward the purchase of an AED to place into the community.ย  Estimated donation: $500.
  • Will be hosting an AHA Instructors Course on June 1st. The students taking this class will then become CPR/AED instructors and are able to teach and certify others in CPR! ย
  • HeartSafe City Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, will also be hosting ย KidSaver: CPR for the Family, a non-certification CPR course, event on June 5th from 6-8 pm and it is open to anyone!
  • Currently there is no central database for AEDs in our community. With the help of AEDRegistry.org we will be locating AEDs to add to the database. We are setting aside June 7th to locate as many AEDs in our community and adding them to a national and local database. We are encouraging the local community to help us tag AEDs, as well.
