The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire has been a family-loved Gainesville tradition for years, but next year, the in-person event has been canceled due to COVID-19. However, a new event, “Hoggetowne at Home” will take its place.
“Although we will not be able to gather in person to enjoy the distinctive smell of hay mixed with funnel cake, our team is putting together a virtual festival lovingly called “Hoggetowne at Home” where you can visit merchant booths, watch demonstrations and engage in activities from the comfort of your own home,” according to the faire’s website.
The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire was originally scheduled for the weekends of January 23-24, 30-31, and February 5-7, 2021. The faire’s staff worked to develop a safety and mitigation plan to try and host the event in person, however there proved to be too many obstacles to make that happen.
