Community Input on Rezoning

Alachua County Public Schools has scheduled two meetings to allow community input on rezoning some elementary schools in Alachua County.

School zoning lines are to be redrawn due to a new elementary school in the southwest Gainesville area that is currently under construction and scheduled to open in the fall of 2021.

The first community meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Zoom, and the second meeting will in person on November 4 at the District Office (620 E. University Avenue). You will also be able to live stream both meetings online here.

“The Zoom coordinates for the online input session are available on the district’s Facilities/Rezoning page at https://fl02219191.schoolwires.net/Page/26740,” according to an ACPS press release. “The page includes an interactive map that shows the five draft plans and allows residents to type in their address to see how it would be affected. More information about rezoning, including details about the impact of each plan on surrounding schools, is also available on that page.”

The press release also said that between four and nine other elementary schools could be affected by the current draft plan. Click here to learn more about the rezoning plan, and don’t forget to send in your community input on rezoning.
