Because the start date for Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) has been pushed to August 31, the district’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Department has extended its free meals program for children aged 0-18 to August 26.
The free meals will be distributed from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. every weekday at 23 different distribution sites and schools across the county.
“When school begins, students attending both brick-and-mortar schools and the Alachua Digital Academy will be provided with meals at 17 school sites,” according to an ACPS press release. “Families of Digital Academy students will be able to pick up meals Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11-1. They’ll be provided meals for schools days, which is the standard during the regular school year.”
According to ACPS, FNS his disturbed 2.3 million meals across Alachua County since the end of March. For more information about pick-up locations, visit the Your Choice Fresh website!
