Matheson History Museum

WHAT TO KNOW: History comes alive at the Matheson History Museum in downtown Gainesville. The museum offers free admission year-round and regularly hosts programs that explore Florida history, local culture and notable figures from the region. Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art

Morningside Nature Center

Alachua County Library District
LOCATION: Multiple locations throughout Alachua County
WHAT TO KNOW: Libraries are so much more than books. The Alachua County Library District offers story times, makerspace activities, literacy programs and special events for children of all ages. Even on days without scheduled programs, libraries remain one of the best free places for kids to discover new interests.

Children’s Trust of Alachua County
LOCATION: Countywide (programs offered through community partners)
WHAT TO KNOW: The Children’s Trust of Alachua County operates a little differently than the other organizations on this list. Rather than serving as a single destination, it acts as a hub connecting families to free and low-cost programs, summer camps, tutoring services and after-school opportunities throughout the county. Parents looking for educational resources should keep it on their radar.

Home Depot Kids Workshop
