People Against Violence Enterprises (PAVE) is organizing the 22nd annual Stop the Violence/ Back to School Rally for Alachua County children and their families.

This year’s rally will take place on Saturday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to noon at Citizens Park behind the MLK Center and will focus on reducing gun violence in our community.

The back to school rally will include entertainment and a variety of speakers, including actor Todd Bridges, best known for his role as Willis Jackson on the popular TV sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. There will also be information on gun safety, counseling services, and free COVID testing and vaccinations.

The rally is being sponsored by many local businesses including the headline sponsor Meldon Law. Meridian Behavioral Healthcare is giving away free backpacks filled with school supplies to the first 3,000 students in attendance. Come celebrate back to school and support efforts to keep our community safe, happy and healthy!
